During the month of May, college students are preparing for finals, which can be quite stressful. For the past several years, B.A.R.C.C. teams have been visiting college campuses for a couple of hours on certain days to meet and greet the students. It’s so interesting and fun to meet the students and see how our dogs give them pleasure. Lots of petting goes on during these sessions and we also learn about the students’ goals and aspirations. This year, we are scheduled to visit Carroll University in Waukesha, WI and UW – West Bend in West Bend, WI.
Here we are in April and May, when B.A.R.C.C. provides pet safety programs for the local school children. We are currently scheduled to give our program at all the 4K classes in Mayville, at SAGES in Beaver Dam and for students at Plat Elementary in Colgate, WI. Before the summer, the students will learn how to be safe around dogs they don’t know and also around their own pets. It’s amazing how much the children remember from year to year and how they demonstrate this knowledge whenever they approach our dogs.
Here are four of our teams at Theresa Learning Center after presenting our Pet Safety Program. Daisey, Betty Boop and Kona all helped the children practice approaching and petting a dog.
