This past week, eight B.A.R.C.C. teams had the pleasure of meeting the families that attended a special literacy night at the local elementary school. Most of the teams met Santa before preparing to meet several hundred adults and children. Even though not all the children have the opportunity to read to our wonderful dogs, they were all excited to introduce their parents to the dogs from the R.E.A.D. program.

Must Be Santa?
Alaska was wearing a jingle bell collar for the holidays at an area school R.E.A.D. program. As we entered the hallways jingle belling all the way, we could hear children’s excitement. Some of the children thought Santa or his reindeer were at the school! A teacher thanked us for bringing so much joy in their day.
Adult Day Care Visits
One of the most rewarding things for me in pet therapy has been adult day care visits. The looks of the faces of the people when petting my dog are priceless. He brings lots of joy and memories to the residents.
